Montgomery Mayor Steven Reed presents budget proposal to city council

Montgomery Mayor Steven Reed has presented his fiscal 2026 budget proposal to city council.

His budget plan totals $353.2 million, which is a 6.5% increase from last year. It would be the largest Montgomery city budget in history.

Key economic growth drivers include a $100 million investment from Amazon for its new facility which will bring 500 jobs and the near completion of Diageo North America’s $415 million beverage facility and warehouse.
Reed also presented some key investments for essential city services, including replacing the police department’s communication system, repairing city buildings and roofs and much more.
The 2026 fiscal year begins October 1.
