Better rain chances, less hot for the rest of the week and weekend

Showers and storms formed across far south Alabama around midday Thursday. Elsewhere, it was mainly dry with sunshine in the sky. However, temperatures were still in the 80s in most locations at noon, with heat indices in the 90s. Thursday afternoon looks partly cloudy with scattered showers and storms and high temperatures in the low 90s. Some showers or storms linger Thursday evening, but fade away Thursday night with lows in the mid 70s.

The weather for Friday and this weekend looks much the same as Thursday. Showers and storms become scattered about each afternoon, with high temperatures generally in the low 90s and a partly to mostly sunny sky otherwise. Our weather pattern looks different for much of next week, with lower rain chances, cooler temperatures, and less humidity. That’s due to an unusual late-August cold front moving through our area late Sunday or early Monday.
