Children in Montgomery’s Cloverdale-Idlewild neighborhood enjoy new playground
The City of Montgomery has installed new playground equipment for children to use in the Cloverdale-Idlewild neighborhood.
Mayor Steven Reed and District 7 city council member Andrew Szymanski cut the ribbon yesterday, with excited children looking on.
The playground is complete with monkey bars, slides, firepoles and more.
Reed said that the city is putting in the effort to make outdoor recreation a priority and more accessible for everyone.
“We’ve invested close to $1 million to build and improve parks like this one,” he said.
Szymanski thanked members of the Cloverdale-Idlewild Neighborhood Association.
“Having organized neighborhood associations is a really important part of making sure that our communities and our neighborhoods are well looked after from a public safety aspect, from a sanitation aspect and also from a recreation aspect.”
Cloverdale-Idlewild Neighborhood Association President Charlie Colvin extended his thanks to city leaders for making the playground happen.
“I say, ‘Thank you Mr. Mayor, thank you Andrew, thank you Parks and Recreation folks,’ to make this dream come true.”
The new playground is located between Ponce de Leon Avenue and Cloverdale Road.
