Cusseta man arrested for armed robbery in Lee County

A Cusseta man has been arrested for armed robbery in Lee County.

Deputies with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office responded to an armed robbery around 8:22 p.m. Wednesday to the 8000 block of U.S. Highway 29 N.

Once they arrived, the victim stated that he was texting with a female and he was supposed to meet her at the home.

When he arrived, he was met at the front door by an person wielding a knife and a pair of brass knuckles. That’s when the suspect demanded money.

When the suspect found out that there was no money, he took the victim’s shoes, necklace, and ring.

During the search, investigators found 20-year-old Jerrick Landon Hamby hiding in the attic.

Hamby was taken into custody and charged with first degree robbery.

He is currently in the Lee County Detention Center on no bond.
