City of Georgiana Set to Complete Multi Million Dollar Economic Changes
With a population of just over 1200 people the city of Georgiana already boasts local businesses ranging from restaurants, to event centers and florist… now the city is growing in a major way.
The city of Georgiana broke ground Friday on a nearly 8 million dollar economic project that is set to change the trajectory of the city’s economic impact in South Alabama.
The Busy Ant Travel Center, which has a second smaller location 50 miles north of Georgiana, Â is set to build an 8 million dollar truck stop in Georgiana just off of Interstate 65. The addition to the city effectively creates jobs and enhances its footprint in South Alabama.
The site is the future home of a new 12,000 square foot truck stop featuring several stores, including Subway, an Electric Vehicle charging station, fueling stations and plans for more advancement in the future.
City officials say the 8 million dollar development has been a labor of love and getting the city to phase is a group effort one will have a huge impact on its residents.
Phase one of Georgiana’s economic plan is scheduled to be completed in a year and a half.
