Suspect in Tallassee officer-involved shooting identified

The suspect in an officer-involved shooting in Tallassee has been identified.

The State Bureau of Investigation says around 3:05 p.m. Friday, officers with the Tallassee Police Department responded to a domestic violence call in the 2900 block of Notasulga Road.

Once they arrived, the suspect armed with a firearm fired his weapon causing the officers to exchange gunfire.

The suspect, identified as 38-year-old Adam Davis, was taken to Piedmont Hospital in Columbus, GA, for medical treatment.

No officers were injured during the course of the incident.

Officials say a federal detainer has been issued for Davis by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, or ATF, for Felon in Possession of a Firearm.

Once released from the hospital, deputies with the Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office will transport Davis to the Muscogee County Jail before being extradited back to Alabama.

Authorities say Davis also has pending charges for Domestic Violence.

The State Bureau of Investigation has taken over the case.  Once complete, the findings will be turned over to the Office of the District Attorney Fifth Judicial Circuit.
