Greenville Mayor Dexter McLendon and City Councilman Jae’Ques Brown face runoff

Greenville residents will return to the polls on September 23 as Mayor Dexter McLendon and City Councilman Jae’Ques Brown vie for the mayoral position in a runoff.
Greenville election results are in and as polls closed at 7 p.m. last night, residents waited patiently to discover who would next be the mayor of Greenville. The results:
McLendon 773
Brown 691
Crum 334
Waller 242
This means two Greenville candidates, incumbent Mayor Dexter McLendon and City Councilmen Jae’Ques Brown now have the task of preparing a further campaign to win over voters.
We spoke with Jae’ques Brown after the official numbers posted who says in part, “I understand now, more than ever that I need to reach those individuals who might have voted for other candidates.”
