JAG High School placed on brief lockdown after report of a weapon on campus

A Montgomery Public Schools high school was placed on lockdown earlier Thursday.

According to Rosanna Brewton, Director of Communications at MPS, a report was received regarding a possible weapon inside a vehicle parked on the campus of JAG High School.

Officials say the MPS security team activated safety protocols and addressed the situation and that all students and staff are safe.

“The safety and well-being of our students and staff remain our highest priority. We sincerely thank our parents and community members for their continued support as we work to maintain a safe and secure learning environment for every student,” said Brewton.

Details regarding if a weapon was found were not made available, but Brewton said the matter is now in the hands of local authorities.
