Stanhope Elmore football dominates Percy Julian
The Stanhope Elmore Mustangs took down the Percy Julian Phoenix 40-0 Thursday night at 17 Springs.
In the first quarter with the Mustangs facing third down, Percy Julian showed no mercy. Willyam Nelson-Powers powered through the Mustangs defense for a big stop that forced a punt.
Later in the first quarter, the Phoenix were pushed back against their own end zone. The Mustangs capitalized on the field position, taking down Percy Julian in the end zone for a safety. Stanhope Elmore took a 2-0 lead.
With momentum building, the Mustangs got the ball back. Quarterback Davis Foshee handed off to Damarion Barnes, who walked into the end zone for a touchdown. The Mustangs extended their lead to 9-0.
Percy Julian couldn’t slow down Barnes, who scored three rushing touchdowns in the first half alone.
