The Montgomery United FC has announced that head coach Tate Dean stepped down from his position last week.

The announcement was made on the soccer team’s Facebook page.

“Thank you to Montgomery United for trusting me to lead the team during our inaugural 2025 USL League Two season. It’s been an incredible journey, but I’ve decided to step away to pursue other opportunities,” said Coach Dean.

Dean was announced as the club’s first head coach in January, ahead of the 2025 USL League Two Season. His experience included serving as the assistant head coach at the University of Alabama Huntsville (UAH), and assistant coaching positions at Faulkner University and Auburn University Montgomery (AUM).

“We thank Tate for his leadership during our historic first season in USL League Two. His contributions were instrumental in laying the foundation for our future. We wish him all the best in his future endeavors,” says Manny Sanchez, the club’s Sporting Director.

Montgomery United FC is a newly established pre-professional soccer club owned and operated by the YMCA of Greater Montgomery.

The team competes in USL League Two and hosts its home matches at the Emory Folmar YMCA Soccer Complex Championship Stadium.

Team officials say they’ll begin a nationwide search immediately for a new coach.
