1 dead, 1 in custody after fatal shooting in Tuskegee
Tuskegee police say one man is dead and another is in custody following a fatal shooting Thursday morning.
Tuskegee Police Chief Gary Hicks tells Action 8 News that around 9:54 a.m., officers and fire medics responded to a report of a person shot in the 2900 block of Pruitt Court.
Once they arrived, they found Quandaries Pollard, of Tuskegee, with a life-threatening gunshot wound. Pollard was pronounced dead on the scene.
Chief Hicks says the suspect, 31-year-old Kareem Washington, also of Tuskegee, was quickly identified and was taken into custody within two hours of the incident. It was determined that both Washington and Pollard knew each other.
Washington was transported to the Pike County Detention Facility where he is charged with murder, 2nd degree possession of marijuana and tampering with evidence.
