Tuskegee University police chief relieved of duty
Tuskegee University has relieved its police chief from duty.
Officials with the university tell Action 8 News that Joshua Phillips is no longer on the job.
While the university wouldn’t give a reason for the separation, they released this statement to Action 8 News:
“The University appreciates his dedication during his probationary period but will not comment further as it is a personnel matter. An interim chief has been appointed and will serve until the new chief, who has also been selected, begins early next month. The new police chief will be announced on or around the effective date of employment.”
As Action 8 News has reported, Phillips was named as the university’s new chief of police in March.
Before that, he served as chief for the Cherokee Police Department in Alabama for five years.
