Montgomery Biscuits are runners-up in the Southern League for the second straight year
Once again, the Montgomery Biscuits came very close to winning another Southern League title, only to fall short to the Birmingham Barons.
For the second straight year, the Barons are the champions, with the Biscuits finishing second.
Game three of the best-of-three championship series was finally completed this afternoon. It began last night but was halted due to rain. It was 5-1 Barons when the game was delayed last night in the 5th inning.
When the game resumed today, there was another rain delay until the Barons finally took the victory 6-3.
This is the Barons 14th Southern League championship.
The Barons lost the first game on Sunday 2-1, before winning the second game 7-3, which forced the third and final game to determine the champion.
The Biscuits last won championships in 2006 and 2007, shortly after the team moved from Orlando to Montgomery in 2004.
