Sen. Robert Stewart to host proposed gas pipeline meeting

From the West Alabama Newsroom–

State Senator Robert Stewart is hosting a public meeting in Selma to discuss the impact a proposed gas pipeline expansion could have on Dallas County.

Waka Gaspipeline0926 VoStewart says Dallas County is one of ten rural counties the proposed pipeline would go through.

He’s hosting the event to inform his constituents about the pros and cons of the proposed project.

He says project could create some short-term jobs — but it also includes some environmental risks.

“A lot of times these natural gas pipelines they release toxic emissions into the air which could cause all sort of health problems,” he said.

“Natural gas pipelines could contaminate the water as well. And coming from a rural area, we need to make sure we protect our environment.”

The meeting is set for Tuesday, September 30th from 5:30 to 7:30 PM at ArtsRevive at the corner of Church Street and Water Avenue.
