Tuskegee man arrested for theft in Auburn
Auburn police have arrested a Tuskegee man for theft.
The arrest comes after the Auburn Police Department received a report of a theft on September 29.
The victim told officers that a vehicle was stolen from a business located in the 800 block of Opelika Road.
Investigators determined that 23-year-old Dion Jaquan Pickett was the suspect.
On October 1, officers with the Shorter Police Department located the stolen vehicle in their jurisdiction, and Pickett was located in close proximity to the vehicle.
Pickett was taken into custody and charged with first degree theft of property.
Officials say the suspect did not comply with police during the arrest, resulting in Shorter Police charging him with resisting arrest. Pickett was also treated for a self-inflicted injury that occurred while he was detained in a police vehicle.
Pickett was transported to the Lee County Jail and is being held pending review by the Alabama Department of Pardons and Paroles.
