A Selma man is counting his blessings after he’s rescued from his burning house by his neighbors.

When a house on the 500 block of LL Anderson caught fire Monday afternoon — the man who lives there was inside — fast asleep.

Waka Firerescue1006 PkgIt’s a situation that could have ended in a fatality — if not for the actions of three good Samaritans — who ran into the burning house to rescue a neighbor.

“We knew someone stayed there so we did what we can. But when I, I was crossing the track I saw the guys. They was kind of going in, they knew someone was there. So, I came and assisted them. And we pulled the guy out. It was think last, act first,” said Deangelo Ray.

“Well, I know Victor and when I drove up the house was on fire. I know the car was there. So, I knew he was in there. So, we ran around to the front kicked the door in and found him,” said Marvin Williams.

The man was taken to the hospital — for treatment.

“It’s our job to do the best we can for our neighbors. You know when we are blessed with the opportunity to help, we help,” said Williams.

“This make me feel good. I helped save a life,” said Ray.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
