MCSO cancels annual Halloween Spooktacular
Officials with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office say they are having to cancel this year’s Halloween Spooktacular at Garrett Coliseum.
The annual event, which has been going on for nearly 20 years, provides a safe environment for kids in the area to enjoy trick or treating.
MCSO says the cancellation is due to the coliseum booking another event that weekend. According to the coliseum’s website, they now have an ArenaCross event happening on that Friday and Saturday.
Officials say they searched for an alternate location, but there wasn’t a venue that could safely accommodate the thousands of people who attend the event year.
“While this unexpected change is out of our control, we understand that the community will be disappointed,” said MCSO in a statement. “We look forward to this great event next year.”
MCSO says it will be contacting each vendor to notify them of the cancellation.
