Alabama National Fair wraps up another successful year

As cleanup gets underway following the 71st annual Alabama National Fair, organizers say it was another successful year.

Billed as “The 11 Best Days of Fall,” The fair ran from October 3 through October 13, which special themed days, rides, competitions and concerts, including legendary country music artist Lee Greenwood.

The Kiwanis Club of Montgomery puts on the fair as a fundraiser, with proceeds going back into the community, usually about $300,000 or more a year. Since the fair began in 1954, more than $10 million generated from it has been put back into local projects.

As the rides and other attractions are removed from Garrett Coliseum, planning is already underway for next year.

“We start evaluating what we’re doing and start planning for the next year, everything we’re doing now and see what we need to do better. Yeah, it was successful. The second weekend we had really big crowds, the first weekend was a little slow because of everything going on. But yeah, we had great crowds and everybody had a great time. And you know we look forward to finding out how good we did,” Alabama National Fair Executive Director Randy Stephenson told Action 8 News.

Next year’s fair dates have already been announced. The fair will run October 9-18, 2026.
