U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville speaks at Montgomery Chamber of Commerce event

U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville was the guest speaker at the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce’s “Washington Brief,” where he talked about the ongoing federal government shutdown.

Tuberville said in this country, he believes it is not about Republicans and Democrats, but its about Americans.

He said people have to come together for one common cause, which is for the people in this country.

“We are working for the American people and we’re not getting anything done,” Tuberville said. “The reason that I’m not for what the Democrats want to do is I’m voting for the budget we have now. Unfortunately it’s $2 trillion more than we should be spending, but it’s a budget, and President Trump is trying to cut back on all that, but for some reason, Democrats want to pay for illegals’ healthcare and take away our rural healthcare subsidies that we passed in the Big Beautiful Bill, so that’s what the fight’s over right now.”

Tuberville will be giving up his Senate seat. He is running for governor in next year’s elections.
