Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office hosts annual Night Out event for community
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Foundation has hosted its annual “Montgomery Night Out” to bring the community together with law enforcement officers and other agencies.
The event was held last night at EastChase, with a lot of fun activities and a chance for people to meet each other.
It’s designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness. Crime has been on the mind of many people after the mass shooting in downtown earlier this month that killed two people and left 12 others injured, some seriously.
But crime prevention is needed no matter what the situation.
“Let the community come out, be able to ask those questions that they got on how to: secure their homes, what’s going on in their neighborhoods. That’s why we’re here,” Montgomery County Sheriff Derrick Cunningham told Action 8 News.
“We came to support the people that make our city safe, and we all complain about what’s not going on and what’s not happening, so we’re here to support and be grateful and appreciative of what everyone’s doing for the city of Montgomery,” attendee Larita Hendrix said.
