City of Montgomery holds breast cancer awareness walk
The City of Montgomery’s Parks and Recreation Department has hosted a breast cancer awareness walk to mark the month of October being breast cancer awareness month.
The walk was held this morning at Oak Park. The event aims to raise awareness, honor survivors and support those currently battling breast cancer.
Participants were encouraged to wear pink attire to symbolize solidarity and support for the cause. The walk also included a special balloon release.
“We are trying to bring a broader sense of community, hope and strength and we just want to bring everyone together for this momentous occasion,” Austin Lisenby of the Montgomery Parks and Recreation Department told Action 8 News.
Breast cancer remains a significant health concern, affecting one in eight women in the United States during their lifetime.
