Local political leaders address Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce

Three of this area’s top political leaders have addressed the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce about key issues they are facing.

Montgomery Mayor Steven Reed, Pike Road Mayor Gordon Stone and Montgomery County Commission Chairman Doug Singleton spoke about economic and business growth.

They each spoke of their partnerships to improve the River Region.

“Today is a great opportunity for us to share what’s going on in each of our communities and to be able to take some questions and interact with the people here in Montgomery County,” Singleton said.

“I think it’s always important to update the business community and the chamber of commerce of what’s happening with the city, tag-teaming with our county partners as well just to talk about things that are on the forefront of our minds and to hear from them as well — from public safety to healthcare to infrastructure, all of the things we are doing to grow our economy and grow this region,” Reed said.

“We didn’t start out to build a town back in 1997 to stand out there by ourselves. We build a town to be a part of the greater success of this region, this state, this nation and this world,” Stone said.

Singleton spoke about the county’s probate east office on Atlanta Highway, which is temporarily closed. He said it has made things inconvenient for people living on the east side, but they are working diligently to get the new location up and running.
