Dementia Friendly Alabama holds “Halloween Crawl”
Dementia Friendly Alabama has held a Halloween Crawl for people to enjoy a special day with others.
Those who came out got to make their own Trick or Treat bags, received face paintings and visited the offices inside the building for treats.
This is the first time Dementia Friendly Alabama put on an event like this. The Halloween Crawl is a part of one of Dementia Friendly Alabama’s memory cafés which it hosts every month to give a fun outing for those living with dementia and their caregivers.
“They’re like 100,000 people living with dementia here in Alabama, and so it’s becoming more and more prevalent. November is about to be Alzheimer’s Awareness Month, and so that’s what we want to do, making sure that we’re bringing more awareness to it and that even though you have a diagnosis, a type of dementia doesn’t mean that life is over. You still have fun. There are services and resources out there to help,” Delane Poague, Dementia Friendly Alabama coordinator, told Action 8 News.
