Oscar Mayer Wienermobile arrives in Montgomery for several appearances
The Oscar Mayer Wienermobile has arrived in Montgomery, where it can be seen in several locations over the next several days.
Its first stop was at the Rufus Lewis Library on Mobile Highway for Spooky Story Hour.
The employees who travel with it, called “hotdoggers,” read some Halloween-themed stories to the children who visited the library.
Everybody who came out today to see the wienermobile even got to go inside and tour the giant moving hot dog.
As part of the visit, donations were collected from visitors for the Heart of Alabama Food Bank.
“When they found my flier that I posted online, I was so flattered because I thought something I created to spread the word about programs here at the library, they found online and they reached out and they wanted us to be the first ones. So I think as a library branch and as the library system in general, I am absolutely flattered,” Lacie Sutherland, a librarian at Rufus Lewis Library, said about how the Wienermobile made its visit here.
“The best part about driving the Wienermobile is that it does bring people together across generations, across whatever background they come from, and events like story hour and supporting the food drive really help strengthen the community ties. That’s what we’re all about this week. We really just want to make the biggest impact and the biggest positive change that we can,” Trey O’Shea, a hotdogger and Wienermobile driver, said.
