Town of Pike Road reveals plans to residents at open house

Leaders in Pike Road are showing off plans for the town to get input from residents.

The first in a series of open house meetings allowed people to not only ask questions about Pike Road’s future, but to also provide their thoughts on how the town should grow.

Pike Road became a town in 1997 and is one of the fastest-growing municipalities in the state. Its current population is around 11,000 people. Over the years, farmland has given way to neighborhoods and businesses. Pike Road started its own school system in 2015.

Pike Road Mayor Gordon Stone talked with Action 8 News about its importance.

“It’s a wonderful exercise because it allows the community to have input in the direction of the town. And then it tells the staff and all the board members who work on various commissions what that direction is, so that there can be continuity of decision-making. If you look at Pike Road’s growth and you look at the items that have been approved or are working on being approved, you’ll see that there is consistency and commonality.”

The open houses at the Pike Road Town Hall will continue from 11-2 and 3:30-6:30 today.
