Pay It Forward: Larry Ray of Wetumpka

For more than 65 years Larry Ray has been involved with Wetumpka High School football.

“I had the opportunity to coach a lot of these young men growing up and it’s been rewarding,” said Ray.

In fact, his father coached there, he played and coached there, and his son played there as well. And he goes out of his way to help the students by setting up scholarships.

“I have known Mr. Ray forever and he’s a good Christian, civic duty person. He tries to help out everybody in the community. Can’t ask for no better. He’s the Andy Griffith of Wetumpka,” said his nominator Ben Holley.

That’s why today Stewart Vance of the Vance Law firm is paying it forward to him.

“Make me feel real good, you know. It was kind of a surprise. Anytime someone nominates you for something like this, it’s very rewarding,” said Ray.
