Alabama holds steady at No. 4 in AP Top 25 College Football Poll
Alabama remains No. 4 in the latest AP Top 25 College Football Poll as it continues its streak of SEC victories.
The Crimson Tide defeated unranked LSU 20-9 last night, which is its sixth consecutive SEC victory. Alabama is 8-1 overall, 6-0 in the SEC.
The top five — No. 1 Ohio State, No. 2 Indiana, No. 3 Texas A&M, No. 4 Alabama and No. 5 Georgia — were unchanged.
Incremental moves followed: No. 6 Ole Miss swapped spots with No. 7 Oregon after the Ducks’ narrow win at Iowa. No. 8 Texas Tech and No. 9 Notre Dame both moved up one spot.
Texas, ranked No. 1 in the preseason poll, jumped three spots to round out the top 10. They’ll face Georgia in an SEC showdown this weekend.
No. 11 Oklahoma was the only other team that stayed put. The Sooners play Alabama on Saturday.
Elsewhere, the biggest winner in Week 11 of college football didn’t touch the field this week. Despite being idle, Georgia Tech is set to reclaim the Atlantic Coast Conference lead after losses by No. 12 Virginia and No. 14 Louisville, which dropped both teams below Georgia Tech.
The action continued in the Big 12, as No. 8 BYU at No. 9 Texas Tech squared off in a showdown between the conference’s top two contenders. Texas Tech came out on top and leapfrogged the Cougars in the rankings, taking sole possession of the conference.
No. 2 Indiana narrowly avoided its first loss of the season and a potentially significant drop in the rankings in a last-minute thriller against Penn State.
Iowa played No. 6 Oregon tough, but the Hawkeyes fell just short in the final moments as the Ducks kicked a game-winning field goal. The 18-16 loss marks Iowa’s third of the season and jeopardizes its playoff path.
