Pay It Forward: Kimberly Smith of Millbrook

Kimberly Smith started a resource center in the community so that the community has a place and face to connect to resources. It’s called Successful Connections. People can find food assistance, health insurance, medical attention, mental health resources, housing and other needs.

“So we just wanted to put people in an atmosphere where they can obtain information and make an informed decision about bettering their life,” said Smith.

One of the programs is called Heart and Hangers where people can find gently used clothes for free.

“This Hearts and Hangers program that’s here from all the donations that we get from the community, it’s been countless, countless, countless bags of clothing and people that come in that actually needed it and actually take it with them and doesn’t cost them anything. That’s a wow,” said her nominator Yolanda Jackson.

And for those who may be inspired to give back like Smith and don’t know where to start,  she has this advice,

“just start with a smile because that could change someone’s day,” said Smith.
