Hayneville man arrested in arson turned murder investigation

A Hayneville man has been arrested in an arson turned murder investigation.

According to court records, it happened around 10:44 a.m. on Sunday, November 16 at a home on River Drive in Lowndes County.

36-year-old Deldrick Thomas is accused of shooting the female victim multiple times causing her death. Court records say he then poured accelerant on her body, starting a fire that eventually burned down the home.

The court records did not specify the victim’s name or age.

Thomas is currently in the Lowndes County Jail on no bond.
