Alabama Shakespeare Festival holds annual Holiday Open House celebration
The Alabama Shakespeare Festival is getting ready to host its annual holiday open house.
This year’s event will be Saturday, December 6, from 10AM to 1PM.
This free, family-friendly event will feature local vendors, holiday treats, an art crawl with the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts and a behind-the-scenes set tour of its ongoing production of Disney’s “Frozen.”
The holiday open house will also have a special visit and photo opportunities with Santa and Mrs. Claus. For the chidren who don’t enjoy loud crowds, there will be a quiet zone for arts and crafts.
“Part of the mission of doing the open house is to bring community together,” Cameron Williams, the director of education at the Alabama Shakespeare Festival told Action 8 News. “Building community is important to us here at the theatre, and I think that’s part of it as well. Bringing arts organizations together so we’re happy to partner with the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts. We’re happy to partner with Abrakadoodle and Cleft Works and some of the local universities and colleges that are around us, but it also reintroduces people to the theatre and hopefully encourages them to come back and see a show. Of course, we have “Frozen” that’s running right now and it’s been electric. Those audiences have been electrifying to see and so once you come in and see and experience all the stuff with the open house then maybe folks will float into the theatre and see the show as well.”
