Volunteers pack bags for Montgomery’s Meals on Wheels

Volunteers gathered together in Montgomery to pack hundreds of “holiday bags” for local seniors in need.

Community volunteers for Meals on Wheels helped pack more than 575 holiday bags for homebound seniors. These bags are filled with non-perishable food items and included a hygiene bag.

Meals on Wheels of Montgomery has been doing these holiday bags for over 30 years to help senior citizens until the non-profit restarts its hot meals program in January.

Children helped decorate the bags to bring a smile to the seniors who will receive them.

“We have a great partnership with local schools and church organizations and they had their children decorate the bags for us, which is always such a special touch for the clients,” Pam Goodwin, the director of senior services for Meals on Wheels, told Action 8 News.
