A former WAKA sports reporter was killed in an apparent murder-suicide Tuesday morning.

It happened around 9:00 a.m. Tuesday in the 700 block of Highland Manor Court in Hoover.

Hoover police say a husband and wife were found unresponsive at their home after being discovered by a family member.

Police say a 3-year-old child was also located in the home, but was unharmed.

Officials say the husband and wife were pronounced dead on the scene from gunshot wounds.

WBRC Fox 6 News in Birmingham identified one of them as Christina Chambers. Chambers worked there in November 2015 until leaving her full-time role in July 2021. She continued to freelance with the station after.

Before joining WBRC, Chambers worked at WAKA Action 8 News as a sports reporter/anchor from June 2015 to November 2015.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Christina Chambers at this time.
