Local nonprofit presents checks to area animal rescue groups
A local organization geared towards improving the lives of animals came together Sunday to spread some Christmas cheer to animal rescue groups.
“That Animal Group,” also known as TAG, came together for their annual Christmas party at PJ’s Furniture on Dalraida Road.
During the festive party, the group[ presented checks to several organizations, including the Montgomery Humane Society, Troy Animal Rescue Project and the Tuskegee Veterinary School.
Throughout the year, TAG also provides dog food every month to Meals on Wheels, so homebound pet owners will be able to feed their animals.
“Animal welfare is community problem,” said Montgomery Humane Society Executive Director Steven Tears. “These dogs run in the streets being out in the cold. “People not adhering to the laws. I mean, it’s going to take us all to make a difference, and this is a small example of organizations working together to make it happen.”
This helps us to provide for stuff that people don’t necessarily to think about,” said Troy Animal Rescue Project Director Tiffany Howington “The dogs need toys. They need treats. They want to be happy while they wait on their forever homes. We need leashes and collars for people to take them out on walks, so these funds provide for necessities, such as that to make sure that they’re happy and healthy while they wait on forever homes.”
