Second baby surrendered in Safe Haven Baby Box in Montgomery

Montgomery Fire/Rescue says a second new born baby has been surrendered through their Safe Haven Baby Box.

Officials say they responded after the alert was activated and found a healthy new born boy. The surrender was made around two weeks ago, but a delayed announcement was made to protect the mother’s privacy.

Montgomery Fire Rescue personnel provided initial care, and the Montgomery Police Department responded in accordance with established protocols. The baby boy was taken to Baptist Medical Center South for evaluation and follow‑up care.

Safe Haven Baby Box officials and the Alabama Department of Human Resources were notified and are involved in the ongoing process.

The baby box is located at fire station 10 and was installed in May.

The baby box is used as a resource for protecting vulnerable infants and supporting families during moments of difficulty.

The first surrender was made in September.
