Fog Saturday night, still warm Sunday, winter cold returns Monday

Warm weather continued Saturday across central and south Alabama. Despite a mostly cloudy sky, temperatures warmed into the mid and upper 70s during the afternoon in most locations. Saturday night remains mild, with lows near 60°. Thanks to a partially clearing sky Saturday evening, locally dense fog may form late Saturday night. A dense fog advisory includes south Alabama through 10AM Sunday.

Fog/low clouds gradually mix out Sunday, with some sunshine during the afternoon boosting temperatures well into the 70s again. Rain returns Sunday night, though maybe not very much as a cold front pushes through our area. Monday looks much colder behind the front, with high temperatures in the 50s despite some sunshine. Monday night looks very cold, with lows in the 20s. Tuesday remains cold with highs in the 40s and lows in the 20s.

Temperatures moderate a bit for New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. Both days look partly to mostly sunny with highs in the 50s and lows in the 30s. Clouds increase Friday, with a chance for rain returning next weekend. Otherwise, temperatures remain a bit more mild, with highs in the low 60s and lows in the low 40s. Our area may trend drier again into the first full week of January.
