Alabama State Troopers urge you to stay safe during the New Year’s holiday
As you plan your New Year’s celebrations, Alabama State Troopers are also preparing to keep drivers safe this holiday.
State troopers are in the middle of their “12 Days of Safety” campaign. The initiative is designed to keep everyone safe from the first day of winter through New Year’s Day.
State troopers are maintaining a strong presence by patrolling roadways statewide through January 2. They’re watching for dangerous driving behaviors, like impaired driving, distracted driving and speeding.
“As we enter this year’s New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, we want everyone to keep safety at the forefront during this extended holiday travel period,” Sgt. Reginal King of the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency told Action 8 News. ‘We’re going to be utilizing all available resources to create that officer presence with hopes that that presence alone will deter individuals from participating in any types of illegal activity or careless driving on the roadways. Impaired driving is a dangerous, irresponsible and selfish act that affects everyone to include drivers, passengers and motorists. As of yesterday, we have 43 less fatalities then we had last year at this time and that’s the trend that we would like to see continue over into 2026.”
