Phenix City man arrested for drugs after routine traffic stop
A Phenix City man has been arrested after officers allegedly found more than a thousand dollars in drugs on him during a routine traffic stop. On Friday, January 2, agents from the Tallapoosa County Narcotics Task Force pulled over a white 2012 Kia Optima in the area of 9th Avenue in Alexander City. But the driver drove off, causing police to chase him.
The short chase ended in a wreck at the intersection of 10th Avenue and 1st Street and 23 year old Charles Dawson was arrested and searched. Agents allegedly found 43.5 Grams of Methamphetamine in his pants pocket along with a small amount of marijuana, and a black digital scale. Agents recovered approximately $1,087 worth of narcotics.
Dawson has been charged with Trafficking Methamphetamine, Attempting to Elude Law Enforcement, Possession of Marijuana Second, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
