Montgomery native Jeremiah Frazier credits faith, family as he prepares for HBCU Legacy Bowl

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WAKA) — Montgomery native and recent Alabama State University graduate Jeremiah Frazier is preparing for the next step in his football career while reflecting on the faith and community support that shaped his journey.

Frazier, a Pike Road High School graduate who grew up on Montgomery’s west side, is a two-time Sun Belt Conference champion and an NFL prospect. He has been selected to play in the 2026 HBCU Legacy Bowl.

Beyond his success on the field, Frazier has focused on giving back through toy drives, community events and youth outreach, saying he feels called to serve others.

“I’ve been blessed, and people have poured into me,” Frazier said. “So why not keep the cycle going? I want to show others you can make it out, you can earn your four-year degree — something nobody can ever take away from you.”

Frazier, a 2025 Alabama State graduate, said he understands the importance of education because football careers are often short-lived.

“My teachers always told me your body is going to give up on you one day,” he said. “So I hope you have a mind. You’ve always got to be able to use your mind.”

Frazier said his faith played a critical role during challenging moments, including his first experience entering the transfer portal.

“I prayed for God to allow me to keep playing the sport I love and that my parents wouldn’t have to pay for college,” he said. “The past two years at Alabama State have really been a blessing. Now I can look back and see I’m living out prayers I once asked for.”

He credited his family for providing unwavering support throughout his career.

“Wherever I need them, they’re always there praying over me and supporting me,” Frazier said.

His mother, Tyffani Frazier, said having a support system is essential for young people navigating life’s challenges.

“Find someone who can speak into your life,” she said. “If it’s not a parent, maybe a grandparent or someone you trust. And always trust God.”

Known for his positive outlook, Frazier said his faith is the source of his constant smile.

“People ask why I’m always smiling,” he said. “It’s God flowing through me. He woke me up this morning, so I have no reason to be mad or sad.”

Frazier will play in the 2026 HBCU Legacy Bowl on Feb. 21 at Yulman Stadium on the campus of Tulane University in New Orleans.
