Selma police are investigating the city’s first homicide of the new year.
A murder investigation is under in Selma after a man is found shot to death over the weekend.
Police Chief Kenta Fulford says investigators continue to gather information about the shooting — and the circumstances surrounding it.
“Our detectives are working diligently on trying to find out a cause for this senseless murder,” Fulford said.
The body was found on the 1800 block of Old Montgomery Highway at around 10 o’clock Friday night near J&J Mobile Home Park.
“Upon arrival officers found Mr. Carloryd Moss, 30 years old of Selma with several gunshot wounds to his persons,” said Fulford.
“He was pronounced deceased on the scene.”
Fulford say at this point in the investigation — the shooting appears to be an isolated incident.
And there’s been nothing found by detectives — that would suggest an ongoing danger to the community at large.
The case remains under investigation.
