Leeds robbery suspect arrested in Wetumpka

A woman wanted for robbery of a fast food restaurant outside of Birmingham was taken into custody in Wetumpka.

Leeds police say on January 2, they were called to the Chick-Fil-A on Ashville Road on reports of a robbery.

Once they arrived, they were told that a woman armed with mace pulled up through the drive-thru and instructed an employee to give her the currency bag.

The employee complied and gave the suspect the bag before she exited the parking lot.

Detectives were able to identify the suspect as 32-year-old Kaudija Shondrelle Haynes, of Birmingham.

Haynes was eventually tracked down by detectives at Wind Creek Casino in Wetumpka.

That same day, with the help of the Wetumpka Police Department and the Poarch Creek Tribal Police Departments, Haynes was taken into custody after colliding with multiple trees during a chase.

Haynes was initially charged with attempting to elude, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, resisting arrest, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

Once released from the Elmore County Jail and taken to the St. Clair County Jail, Haynes will face charges that include 1st degree robbery, reckless endangerment and 4th degree theft of property.
