More Precipitation Heading Our Way

We have a clear and cold night ahead. Temps will fall into the mid 20s but at least we won’t have those gusty winds to deal with overnight.   A quick warm up Friday and then more rain for Friday night into Saturday.  We’re still keeping an eye on the possibility of more precipitation Saturday night into early Sunday.  Model data is suggesting more precipitation heading into the area. Colder air will be moving in on northwesterly winds and that air could tap into some of the precipitation. Rain along with some snow is possible, especially over Southeast Alabama early Sunday morning.

In the meantime,  Tonight will be cold with temps dropping into the mid to upper 20s for lows.  The winds relax so wind chill won’t be a factor overnight.  Friday is going to start out cold with temps in the mid 20s that morning but we’re expecting to snag 60 degrees during the afternoon hours.

Heading into the weekend, another area of precipitation will slide through the state late Friday night into early Saturday.  We expect temps to be above freezing and therefore no wintry precipitation threat.   Rainfall amounts will be under a .25 of an inch. Temps will top out in the mid 50s Saturday afternoon but fall quickly overnight into Sunday morning.  Looks like a wave may move along a frontal boundary to our south.  Cold air will have already spilled into the state and the combination could squeeze out some flurries or even snow showers across South Alabama and the Florida Panhandle.  Some model data is a bit more aggressive and show more widespread snow accumulation across South Alabama.  I’m not on board with that at this point but I’m watching this closely.

Monday through the middle of next week is looking mainly sunny and continued cold.  Temps will manage the upper 40s to lower 50s for highs and lows still down in the 20s.  Looks like winter is back and it’s sticking around a bit longer this time around.
