Two inmates killed in assault using a weapon at Elmore Correctional Facility
Two inmates have been killed at Elmore Correctional Facility in the town of Elmore in an assault involving a weapon.
The Alabama Department of Corrections says on Thursday, January 15, inmates Damon Lamar Calhoun, Deion Lamar Booth and Londell Ramone Nunn, Jr., were discovered fighting with a weapon being involved. ADOC hasn’t disclosed what type of weapon was used.
Calhoun and Nunn were severely injured and taken to the Health Care Unit for emergency treatment. They were both pronounced dead, ADOC says. Booth wasn’t hurt.
The bodies of Calhoun and Nunn were taken to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for examination. The Law Enforcement Services Division of the ADOC is investigating the incident.
Calhoun was 35 years old and was serving an 18-year sentence for burglary in a case from Mobile County. Nunn was 34 and was serving a 10-year sentence for robbery in a case from Morgan County.
Booth, 28, is serving a 20-year sentence for assault in a case from Escambia County.
