Distinguished Young Women contestants help cancer patients in project to honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Young women from all across Alabama are in Montgomery this week getting ready to compete for the title of Distinguished Young Woman of Alabama. They took time to give back to the community on the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., holiday.
The 42 contestants made personalized chemo comfort bags for cancer patients across Central Alabama.
These bags were filled with self-care and wellness items along with a personal note of encouragement written by the contestants.
The bags will be given to patients to enter a cancer center for treatment across 32 counties in our area.
Distinguished Young Women is part of a national scholarship program that promotes leadership and talent in young women.
