A Bit Warmer Midweek

A brief midweek warm up with temps climbing into the upper 50s to lower 60s Wednesday.  You should enjoy it while it last because another surge of colder air comes in over the weekend.  It will also tap into some moisture and we’re facing the chance of a wintry mix for parts of our area.

In the meantime, we’re expecting a mainly clear sky with temps falling into the upper 20s to lower 30s overnight.  Clouds will be on the increase and we’re looking at a round of rain to move into the area late Wednesday into Thursday. Temps will warm a bit and we’re looking at upper 50s to lower 60s Wednesday afternoon.

Another surge of colder air invades the south Friday into the upcoming weekend.  A disturbance moving in from the west will pull moisture into the cold air and that will be the recipe for wintry precipitation.  It’s too early for specifics but we could be facing either freezing rain or just a cold rain over the weekend around here.  Definitely stay tuned for updates over the coming days. The more significant winter storm impacts will be felt across North Alabama.  Snow and ice accumulation could be enough to make travel impossible and dangerous Saturday through Monday.

Once we’re past the weekend event, sunny and dry conditions settle back over us.  The outlook is for the cold air to continue to remain in place. Temps will manage the 50s for highs and lows in the 30s.
