Fires at two Opelika child care facilities under investigation

Opelika police and fire investigators are examining fires that happened at two child care facilities to see if they may be connected.

Investigators say on Tuesday, January 13, at approximately 3:23AM, firefighters were called to a fire at By His Grace Daycare & Learning Center at 311 South 6th Street.

Then on Monday, January 19,  just after 11:30PM, firefighters responded to a fire at the Children Palace Learning Center at 116 Columbus Parkway.

No injuries were reported in either fire.

However, their initial investigation led to the discovery of glass mason jars filled with accelerant at both locations.
