Distinguished Young Woman of Alabama Competition Begins in Montgomery This Weekend

The Distinguished Young Woman of Alabama competition will begin Friday, January 23 and continue through Saturday at Frazer Church in Montgomery.

The program is part of a national scholarship initiative designed to promote and reward scholastic achievement, leadership and talent among young women. This year’s state competition features 42 contestants from counties across Alabama.

DYW Alabama State Chairman Michael Jones and 2025 Distinguished Young Woman Shayla Holloway spoke with Action 8’s Estee Morrison about the week’s activities and how the young women are helping in the community.
