Montgomery opens storm shelter due to Tornado Watch
The Montgomery City/County Emergency Management Agency has opened the public storm shelter due to the ongoing Tornado Watch.
The Montgomery County Storm Shelter, located at the Flatwood Community Center at 360 Williams Drive, will remain available until the National Weather Service lifts the current Tornado Watch which runs until 6PM tonight.
County officials strongly encourage residents, particularly those in mobile homes, structures without safe rooms, and areas historically impacted by high winds, to consider utilizing the shelter if needed.
Residents are encouraged to bring essential personal items such as medications, identification, chargers, and any necessary comfort items should they decide to utilize the shelter. Pets will not be allowed in the shelter.
The Montgomery City/County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) continues to monitor weather conditions and will provide updates as they become available. For additional information, residents can follow the Montgomery City/County Emergency Management Agency on Facebook or visit www.mc-ala.org.
