Folks take a “polar plunge” in Auburn
It may be January, but that didn’t stop some folks in Auburn from jumping into a swimming pool, all for a good cause.
The Auburn Parks and Recreation Department held its 14th Annual Polar Plunge at Samford Pool on Saturday.
More than 100 thrill-seekers — and even Aubie himself — jumped into the chilly waters, including the Auburn High School soccer team. Others drove more than two hours just to be there.
All of the money raised will fund the Lee County Special Olympics. Last year, the Polar Plunge raised more than $10,000 for Special Olympics athletes.
