Junior League of Montgomery celebrates 100 years

Members of the Junior League of Montgomery are celebrating a centennial of service to the community.

City and county leaders joined Junior League members on Saturday to mark 100 years of volunteerism and financial support that the Junior League has provided for local organizations.

The celebration took 18 months of planning.. The history of the organization was highlighted to showcase the dramatic success of the league’s annual fundraisers, such as the Holiday Market, which have contributed well over a million dollars in the last ten years to the Montgomery area.

“Junior League has been instrumental in developing the community of Montgomery,” President Amerika Blair told Action 8 News. “We have served the community in ways that are seen and unseen. Not only do we deliver volunteerism, we deliver financial capacity to the city of Montgomery.”

The Junior League of Montgomery was started under the sponsorship of organizations in New Orleans and Birmingham.
