Troy University expanding nursing program
Troy University is launching an expansion of its nursing program.
The university and Baptist Health are creating a new program to bridge the education needed between licensed practical nursing and registered nursing to expand Alabama’s nursing workforce.
Students enrolled in the LPN to RN Bridge Program will receive instruction and clinical education designed to build upon the knowledge and experience they have as an LPN.
Baptist Health will fund instructional support and provide facilities for clinical training and simulation experiences.
“The scope of practice of a Registered Nurse is greater in depth and breath than the scope of practice for an LPN. So, this allows them to be able to do more as a nurse professionally, but it also allows them to move up the ladder professionally as far as pay, etc.,” Dr. Lagary Carter, Troy University’s Dean of the College of Health Science, said.
Applications are being accepted until May 31 for the fall program.
